Apologetics is a branch of theology that focuses on defending and justifying Christian doctrine against other religions or anti-religious positions. It emerged in the 2nd century and gained particular importance in the 17th and 18th centuries with the spread of rationalism and deism.

LANGUAGE
The course will be conducted in English, with translation into Estonian and Russian.

OBJECTIVE

To give the student a logical understanding of why Christianity holds certain things to be true and to demonstrate the role of apologetics both in personal spiritual life and in preaching the faith to others.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the course, the student will know and be able to explain:

  • The uniqueness and overall credibility of the Bible.
  • Classical arguments for the existence of God.
  • Challenges to the existence of God: the problem of evil.
  • Arguments for the existence of God: the historicity of the resurrection.

COURSE FEE
70 € for non-credit enrolment.
90 € for credit enrolment, which also requires at least 75% attendance of lectures and completion of all assignments.
