The Seminary's curriculum is organized into cycles; in which classroom sessions are generally held once a month from Wednesday through Saturday, and student's independent study plays a significant role.
In certain courses where mastering the skills being taught requires consistent practice, a two-hour evening Zoom session is held weekly or every other week to support effective learning. This primarily applies to courses such as inductive Bible study, Greek, and Exegesis.
Some elective courses or courses required for a specific Minor Specialization may be offered on Saturdays outside of the regular class schedule.
In rare cases, an exam or presentation may be scheduled outside the regular class session times. Such exceptions will be clearly communicated and noted in the Seminary’s class schedule at the beginning of the semester.
1. Bachelor’s Program. At the seminary, students may study full-time, part-time, or as external students.
- Full-time—the student completes a cumulative total of at least 75% (i.e., 45 - 60 ECTS credits per year) of the curriculum within the standard period of study.
- Part-time—the student completes a cumulative 50 to 74 % (i.e., 30–44 ECTS credits per academic year) of the curriculum.
- Extern – Extern learning is available to those who wish to pursue a theological education but are unable to study on a full-time or part-time basis. Admission to the extern learning program is granted under the same conditions as for stationary students. An extern learning student does not have official student status, but has the opportunity to complete the curriculum at their own pace, including taking courses and defending their thesis. Extern learning students participate in the educational process alongside stationary students and take courses under the same conditions. Extern learning students are entitled to study leave dayes from their employer for the academic session.
The standard duration of study in the program is three or four years. The program comprises 180 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits.
2. Microdegree. A microdegree is a one-academic-year focused study program designed specifically for those who wish to deepen their knowledge of theology or practical Christian ministry but who are currently unable to commit to a full-time bachelor’s program.
The seminary offers three different microdegree programs:
- Bible and Theology, 22 ECTS
- Christian Ministry, 19 ECTS
- Methodist Identity, History, and Church Order, 14 ECTS
3. Open Courses. Anyone interested may enroll in open courses. More detailed information about the courses offered and their schedules can be found on the Open Courses page.
