I started my studies at the BMTS in 2021 because…  I felt it was time. Year after year I had been putting off God’s call within me, until all of a sudden I sensed peace within myself, I knew I was ready.

It still was a step of faith because before I started my studies, my days were already full – my job, involvement in the church, weekly house group meetings. But when God gives the longing, he also creates the opportunities and so miraculously I found that I was able to fit Seminary studies, internships and assignments into my seemingly packed daily schedule, and I was able to accept new challenges as well. I am grateful to God that I can study in the Seminary together with my wife, encouraging and supporting each other.

What has changed in me during these three years of study? I have gained from the Seminary much more than I thought I would get when I started. Deeper knowledge of the Bible, church history, basic Greek, pastoral care - all of this was to be expected. However, thanks to the Seminary, a number of exciting and challenging things have come into my life - serving in the wonderful Reeküla congregation, learning about different denominations, distributing food at the central market, preparing a mission and a media project, and new friends.

I am grateful that the studies have led me to explore God’s calling for my life more deeply. How can I apply what I have learnt at the Seminary? I feel that seminary studies are the beginning of a new and exciting journey. It is certainly not a good idea to be unrealistic before you start. Studying while having a full-time job is physically demanding - study sessions, nightly reading, essays, exams, internships. Yet those three years at the seminary have also bayed me back in spades. Although some things may seem like small victories like a well-written essay or a successful exam, yet they inspire, encourage and make me work harder. I have enjoyed the process. It's all about growing.
